This is a funny time of year for all Australians, with ongoing quarantine and isolation measures forcing many industries to press pause.
At McGowan Homes, we are steadily following government and industry guidelines, continuing work on all existing projects where we can and prioritising the safety of our staff, clients and contractors above all else. It is a case of business as (un)usual for our team!
If you were considering building your dream home in 2020, it can feel like a difficult and confusing time and you may have even put your plans on hold. But there’s no need to stop completely – in fact, this downtime could be the perfect time to embark on a design and construct project.
We can assist with the creation of your new home now, starting the collaborative process of design. Then when normality returns, we’ll be ready to dive straight into construction!
A design and construct service means you engage a builder’s services from the very beginning of the project to look after both the design and build of your new home. It creates a single point of accountability and contact, and ensures your budgets are realistic (and maintained) from the outset. In this current climate, it also means you can get started on the process while at home.
Our team can work with you to produce plans, decide on fixtures and finishes and discuss the relevant materials, technology and overall costs. With additional time for research, we can devote time to sourcing everything you envision, resulting in a home that reflects your vision completely. Of course, we are strictly adhering to social distancing measures so this can all be done via phone or video calls.
It’s expected that international supply chains will be affected by the pandemic in the coming months, so locking in materials and prices now is a very smart decision. Those who wait until the pandemic is over, face the potential problem of increased prices and longer wait times.
When it comes to the planning process, we can also cover timelines, ensuring that when we are ready to build, we can keep to a schedule and deliver your home on time. It’s also important to be aware that a planning permit can take some time to obtain, depending on the certifying authority or council so the earlier you begin this process, the better. Once you have your permit, this is generally valid for two years so there is no rush to begin building until your design is exactly as you desire.
As mentioned, our team is practicing social distancing measures and can conduct meetings over video and phone, as well as communicating via email. Whether you’re looking to build in the next 12 months, or are at the start of the process, McGowan Homes can help bring your dream home to life.
