As another year draws to a close, we wanted to take a look back at everything we’ve achieved in 2019. It’s been an incredible year for the team at McGowan Homes. We’ve completed a number of high-quality custom homes across the Gold Coast, attended awards evenings and industry discussions and released many educational blogs and videos.
Before we head away on a well-deserved break, we wanted to recap our year and reminisce on what we got up to. Keep reading to take a walk back through 2019 with us…
HIA National Awards
In May this year, we travelled to Perth to attend the 2019 HIA-CSR Australia Housing Awards. We were invited to this event as our very own Christine McGowan was nominated for the HIA National Business Partner Award. This highly coveted award recognises those working “off-site” to keep businesses running in the residential construction industry – something Christine is excellent at doing!
We had such a fabulous time at this awards night, meeting old and new friends and we were so proud of Christine who received a high commendation for her service to McGowan Homes and the entire building industry. How lucky are we to be led by such an inspiring woman?
In 2019, we completed one of our most incredible projects – a luxury custom home in Reedy Creek. We worked closely with our clients to create a high-quality, three-bedroom home in the midst of nature. The result is a spacious and functional layout, with an industrial style that permeates the entire space.
There’s a lot to marvel at in our Reedy Creek project, including a timber barn door hung on a black slider; a freestanding bathtub with views into the trees; and a stunning industrial light feature that hangs above the kitchen bench. The home also features an expansive timber deck where our clients can enjoy the Gold Coast climate any time of day or night.

The McGowan Team
This year we wanted to take you behind the build and introduce you to our incredible team. We firmly believe our team are the very best in the business. We’ve handpicked each and every employee to ensure they are highly skilled with specialist experience and expertise. Afterall, it’s not just anyone that can create home’s as luxurious and high-quality as ours.
In July this year, we worked with Capture Collective to get our team on camera and demonstrate their high level of skill to our clients – past, present and future. If you missed it, or simply want to rewatch, click below…
Another project we are incredibly proud to have worked on in 2019 is our two-storey luxury custom home in Paradise Point. This home, located on a corner block, included an addition, internal and external renovation.
The completed home is breathtakingly beautiful and features 4 bedrooms, 2 spacious alfresco areas, an upstairs art room, rumpus. We can’t wait to share the professional photography and videography of this wonderful home with you all in 2020. Follow us on Facebook to be the first to see this fresh content when it arrives.
Our Favourite Blogs
In the midst of networking, video shoots and constructing luxury homes across the Gold Coast, we also managed to write some highly educational and informative blogs this year. Here are a few of our favourites:
Should I renovate or build new?
So many clients approach us with what we like to call the million-dollar question – should we renovate our existing home or start afresh with a brand new space? There are so many considerations to take into account when making this all-important decision and the outcome will be different for each and every client, depending on their unique situation.

Behind the Build: Using colour to create a natural home, with Gold Coast Coatings
Interior design is an incredibly important element of a new home build. It’s the part you’ll be looking at day-in, day-out and can be the difference between simply liking your new home and falling in love with it. In October we sat down with Blake Ryan, director of Gold Coast Coatings to learn more about the influence of colour in creating a natural home.
